The British watchmaker Peter Speake-Marin revisited one of the most successful and iconic models, the Serpent Calendar, and, with an entirely new design, now presents his new “Brown Serpent Calendar” watch collection.
With this model, Speake-Marin kept the unique identity of the original Serpent. The look of the dial was however redesigned by adding a brown snailing hours chapter ring and an oversized calendar indication.
The founder Peter Speake-Marin explains “The original Serpent was the first calendar watch I made and it quickly became one of the most popular Speake-Marin timepieces.” He states that the idea was simple and went back over a century to early pocket watches that used a curved hand in order to differentiate the date from the time. Considering the original design, the new Serpent however brings a new touch to it.
The traditional characteristics of the Serpent were kept however, including the multi-layered, bright white dial, the Piccadilly titanium case, the, typical for Speake-Marin, blued hands and the golden sculptured calendar hand. With this model, tradition meets originality and innovation.
The new collection was first presented at the annual Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie Genève held in Geneva in January 2017.
